Dr. Markus Weigandt is an Healthcare R&D professional and Site Head Darmstadt Development as well as Global Head Orals Development at Merck Healthcare KGaA. Darmstadt Development is a fully integrated site located at the Merck Group headquarter with more than 300 experts in all CMC disciplines (DS, DP, Analytics, Project Leadership, Clinical Trial supply, Quality Assurance). As Global Head Orals Development, he also has end-to-end responsibility for Drug Product development and GMP supply of all oral projects in the Merck R&D pipeline.

After studying pharmacy at the Johann-Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, he did his PhD at University of Heidelberg and started his career 2001 at a biotech spinoff from Roche, working on adult stem cells. He joined Merck in 2003 as Qualified Person for R&D projects and since then held several positions in production and pharmaceutical development with increasing responsibility.
